CryptoLock CL-S2TSA
How to Setup the Administrator Fingerprint
Configuring the 2nd to 10th Fingerprint
Deleting all the Fingerprints
If your lock cannot recognize your administrator fingerprint for some reason, you may reset your lock to its default factory settings following the procedure below,
Before you start, you will need
- The Serial number of your lock (found in your user manual). Please note that we will not know your serial number unless you have registered for warranty.
- Download either file to your PC or laptop running MS Windows.
- Please note that fingerprint reset application is not supported on Mac OS.
Instruction
- Download either of the file mentioned above a temporary folder in your computer.
- Extract all the files into your folder. This is important - Do not run the application directly in the archive as it will not launch properly and you will see a warning (in Chinese text)
- Connect your lock to your computer using a USB Type-C data cable that comes with the box. Note: if you have purchased the lock before 1 Jan 2021, you need to find a USB Type-C data cable as we shipped a USB Type-C power cable for our first version of the lock)
- Click on "User Clear Fingerprint Tool.exe" (found in the subfolder "User Clear Fingerprint Tool") to launch the application.
- Touch the fingerprint panel to wake up the lock. When the LED is GREEN and you see that the "Restore factory settings" button is enabled. It means that the lock is connected correctly. However, if you see the error message "Failed to open USB port", that means you are using a non-data USB-C cable.
- Enter your Serial number into the field next to the "Restore factory settings" button. Please note that if your serial number has a format 9I000xxx (xxx is unique to your lock), the 2nd character is a capital "i" instead of "1".
- Click the "Restore factory settings" button.
- Disconnect the USB cable from your lock.
- The lock is now reset. To use your lock again, please follow the procedure as outlined in the user manual.
If your fingerprint is wrinkled (e.g. spending too much time in the swimming pool or the steam room), your lock may not recognize your fingerprint immediately.
Under such a condition, wait for your finger to dry first and then try again.
The cable will not automatically pop out the first few times.
However, the cable will pop up easily as you use it often enough.
When fully charged, your lock can stay in standby up to 12 months or unlock about 1,000 times, whichever earlier.
Li-ion battery typically can be 300-500 full charge/discharge cycles or last 2-3 years, whichever earlier.
Yes, you can.
Follow the instruction given on the Reset your lock procedure tab.
No, you don’t need to.
To lock, insert the cable into the slot until you hear the latch clicks. Confirm by pulling the cable.
If you find that the latch is tighter than you wish, you may
- Insert the cable with a twisting motion (Please see video below on how to lock your Cryptos Lock).
- Lubricate the latch with a minute spray of WD-40.
However, rather than applying lubricant, some users prefer to activate/unlock monumentally while inserting the cable. That's work too.
Note that the motor is only activated when unlocking, not when locking.
When you delete all the fingerprints (this includes the administrator fingerprint), the lock returns to the original condition when you first receive it.
That means, any fingerprint will be able to open the lock.
To reuse the lock, you must re-configure the Administrator fingerprint first.
We encourage you to review our self-help videos for step-by-step instruction on how to configure your lock.
The best way is to reset the lock to its factory default settings.
You can do that by following the instruction on the Reset your lock procedure tab.

Like all bio-metric fingerprint scanner, it may fail to recognize your fingerprint occasionally.
Factors that may influence immediate recognition includes
- The cleanliness of the scanner panel
- Your fingerprint - Some fingerprints are naturally more challenging for any bio-metric scanner. Or your fingerprint is wrinkled or dry (e.g. in cold weather)
- The ageing of the capacitive sensor or scanner panel
Having said this, scan your finger from different orientation when you are setting up the lock. And that you are not scanning just with the tip of your finger but squarely with your finger on the panel.
Generally, these tips will allow for better recognition rate.
-
The administrator fingerprint was not registered as well as it should. It could happen for example if the finger was dry (for example in cold dry weather) when it was first registered and now, the finger has more moisture. The lock detects it as different from the original set.
-
We have some users whose fingerprints are not easy to scan (usually shallow ridges). It may take a few attempts before a successful unlock. Again, it problem can be compounded by reason (1).
- Reset the lock to factory default. You can do that by following the instruction on the Reset your lock procedure tab.
- Re-register your administrator fingerprint. Press firmly (not necessary to press very hard) on the scanner. Scan 10 times, from different orientations.
- Register 1 (or more, if you like up to 9) fingerprint(s) besides your administrator fingerprint so that you have backups.
Yes, in some new locks. The latch may be tighter than you would like. And you may need to push forcefully to latch the cable.
Some users find twisting the cable as they push the cable into the slot makes the locking process smoother.
Alternatively, you may also lubricate the lock with a tiny amount of WD-40 lubricant or some users prefer to activate/unlock monumentally while inserting the cable. That's work too.

Be sure to use USB cable shipped together with the lock.
Next, please follow the steps below,
- Plug the USB cable into the charging port of the lock.
- Connect the cable to a laptop/computer USB port (input 5V, 1A).
- When you see a green LED light, it means it is charging. When the lock is fully charged, the LED will turn off.
- If you do not see a green LED light, change the USB to a known good cable and try again.
- If it still do not see the green LED light, plug to another known working USB port.
- If the LED does not light up after you follow the above steps, please contact our customer service.
Warning:
- Please do not use a USB-C to a USB-C cable or
- A power adaptor that auto switches to a higher voltage (i.e., higher than 5V) for fast charging. The lock will shut down/damaged when it is subjected to an overcurrent or over voltage condition.
